Let me welcome you to the largest, most comprehensive College of Engineering in Mississippi! I would invite you to explore our website to learn more about the many exciting things happening at MSU. The one word which best describes the Bagley College of Engineering is excellence – in teaching, scholarship, and outreach.
The hallmark of a great engineering school is a great faculty, and you will not find a more dedicated faculty at any other engineering school in the Southeast. Over 20 of our faculty hold endowed chairs or professorships that are given in recognition of exceptional achievement. Additionally, 22 MSU engineering faculty members have been recognized as Fellows in their engineering societies – another national measure of faculty excellence. Many MSU faculty members have also been recognized for teaching excellence, including the 2004 American Society for Engineering Education Southeastern Teaching Award winner.
In addition to teaching, MSU engineering faculty members are actively engaged in Scholarship. Out of over 350 engineering schools, MSU ranks in the top 10% nationally in engineering research expenditures, ranking above most other SEC schools. MSU is also active in graduate education, offering M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in all major engineering fields. We are seeking to more than double our doctoral student population over the next five years, and are always looking for exceptional students interested in pursuing their graduate degrees at MSU.
The Bagley College of Engineering is also actively involved in outreach and economic development. Our faculty, staff, and students work with many Mississippi based industries helping to solve any problems they might have, as well as to provide world class engineers to work in our state and region. In short, the James Worth Bagley College of Engineering is helping to make Mississippi a better place through excellence in engineering education and research.
